Should You Choose Medigap Plan F?

Medicare Supplement Plan F is the most complete Medigap plan. Adding Plan F coverage to Original Medicare will leave you with virtually no out-of-pocket medical expenses. Plan F is an appealing option for those looking for the security of knowing their health care needs are almost entirely covered by their plan and who can afford the higher Plan F premiums.

While Plan F offers impressive coverage, it's always worth considering whether Plan G might make more financial sense. The two plans offer the same coverage except Plan G does not cover Medicare Part B's $226 deductible. Plan G often makes more financial sense than Plan F, however, some clients enjoy knowing they will never have a medical bill with Plan F.

Finally, Plan F is no longer be available to newly eligible Medicare enrollees as of January 2020. As a result, those already enrolled in Plan F can expect to see their premiums increase more so than other plans, such as Plan G or Plan N.
